Privacy Policy

Alpstrack ("we", "us") provides a map for finding huts, bivouacs, and tracks for hiking, ski touring, and mountaineering in the Alps. This policy explains what data the app and website use, and how.

Location data

If you grant location permission, Alpstrack uses your device's GPS to center the map and show your position on the trail. This location data is used on your device only, to render your position — it is not linked to an identity, stored on our servers, or shared with third parties. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; the app remains usable without it, just without the "your position" marker.

Map and place data

Hut, bivouac, and track information shown in the app (including photos) is sourced from public and community mountain-data providers, such as refuges.info, camptocamp.org, and skitour.fr. This is public reference data about places and routes, not personal data about you.

Service providers

Alpstrack is built on top of a small number of infrastructure providers, each of which may process standard technical data (such as IP address and request logs) to operate their service:

These providers act as infrastructure for Alpstrack; we do not sell your data to them or anyone else, and we do not use it for advertising.

Accounts

Alpstrack does not currently require an account or sign-in to use the map.

Children's privacy

Alpstrack is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

As Alpstrack adds features (such as accounts or user-contributed tracks and photos), this policy will be updated to describe any new data practices, with the effective date above kept current.
